The
Willamette Pedestrian Coalition is involved in a number of projects, or
initiatives, on behalf of pedestrians. Here is a sample of what
we are doing:
- Pedestrian-oriented map of inner southeast Portland, highlighting
places of interest, historical aspects, and 'quirky' features of this
area
- Safety Education campaign - creation of an educational video
- Identification of the most dangerous intersections for pedestrians
- This website - we are trying to provide more information and resources to our members, and to encourage others to join us
Share the Road Safety Class
On the first and third Wednesday of each month Willamette Pedestrian Coalition joins Multnomah County Courts, Portland Department of
Transportation, Portland Police Bureau, Legacy Emanuel Trauma Nurses Talk Tough
and the Bicycle Transportation Alliance in a two hour class.
The class is for
drivers who have received tickets. Visit Share the Road website for more
information. The class educates participants in how cars, bikes and pedestrians
can all respect each other and safely share the road, is another example of how
Portland is at the forefront of the multi-model transportation
revolution.
